2023 Virginia Angus John Gall Scholarship

John Gall was the owner of Amandale Farm, in Upperville, Virginia. He was the President of Virginia Angus Association in 1954, and President of American Angus Association as well. The statue of Highland Marshall was gifted to John Gall from the American Angus Association in appreciation for serving as President. He placed the statue in the gardens at Amandale. There are statues of 3 flush brothers – one is at American Angus, one at Angus Hall of Fame, Smithfield, MO, and the other belonged to John Gall. After the passing of John Gall in 1957 his family gifted the statue to the Virginia Angus Association, and it was placed at the office in Charlottesville, VA. In 1993, when the office was moved to Staunton, VA, so was the statue. When the decision was made to sell the Virginia Angus office the statue was put up for auction as well, the proceeds from the bull statue started the funding of this scholarship. The Statue of Highland Marshall was purchased by a group of Angus breeders who moved him to the Virginia State Fair grounds in Richmond Virginia where he resides now.
